Internships
EMA currently offers one internship position in equine
surgery and medicine. The objective of our internship program is to facilitate the instruction of individuals motivated to pursue board certification in equine surgery.
The internship period begins in June and runs for one full year. The successful applicant is a graduate
veterinarian seeking intensive practical experience in order to gain eligibility for a residency position in equine surgery. Many of the interns selected for this
program have been participants in our preceptorship program.
The intern's role in the practice is to perform veterinary work under the supervision of our two board certified
surgeons, to assist in the day-to- day care of hospital patients and to participate in surgical procedures.
Interns are compensated with an appropriate salary and comfortable living quarters. EMA
also provides licensing fees, health insurance, life insurance, and veterinary association memberships.
If you are interested in an EMA internship position, early application to the program and an on-site visit are strongly recommended. The application deadline is
December 1.
Preceptorships
EMA has sponsored a preceptorship program for many years. This program affords
veterinary students and veterinary technology students the opportunity to observe and participate in the day-to-day operations of both the hospital and field services divisions of EMA.
Veterinary preceptors are provided with housing, meals, and a stipend during their time at EMA.
